About On Safari Africa

Twenty years ago, we were the first tour operators to offer open vehicle game drives into the Kruger National Park, and 15 years ago we began operating in Hluhluwe Game Reserve from Hazyview. Our goal was to give our guests the best wildlife experiences on memorable journeys, and we are proud to say that this passion for African safaris still informs our business today.

With two decades of experience behind us, we have expanded our footprint to include Malalane and St Lucia. We offer our guests a wide range of overnight safaris and day tours, from Big Five bush walks to turtle tours in Isimangaliso Wetland Park.

We know the areas we operate in intimately, and regard ourselves as the region’s safari experts. You can rest assured that if we recommended a specific experience, it is because we have years of insight into the area’s abundant secrets and can’t wait to share these with you. We know that you will never forget the privilege of watching a large herd of elephant going about their daily business – this is why we do what we do.

Meet our Team

“At On Safari Africa, we believe in hiring exceptional people with a passion for African safaris. Some of our current staff members were involved in our first open vehicle game drives 20 years ago, and we are proud to be able to call them part of the On Safari Africa family today.

With a strong focus on supporting the communities in which we operate, all of our staff members, including our expert guides, are locals. We draw on a long family history in the area to ensure that our guests always enjoy personal and insightful experiences on our tailor-made African safari tours.”

My journey in wildlife began in 1984 when I worked in game management and game capture. I later went on to guide wilderness trails in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park and the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Later, I opened my own safari business with my wife, which we operated together until we went into partnership with Cullinan Holdings Ltd in 2003.

Proudly South African, my love for the Kruger Park started as a young child and saw me join the reserve as a Field Guide for 13 years. Sharing my knowledge with guests and seeing how touched they were to be in a wilderness area always gave me a great thrill. As team leader at On Safari Africa, I am still fortunate explore the Kruger on a weekly basis when I visit our busy Malalane Branch. I enjoy sharing my passion for wildlife with travel agents, colleagues and clients.
