We love Swaziland. The people are friendly, cheerful, and have a great sense of humour.
Eswatini formerly known as Swaziland has a rich tapestry of events that makes it what it is today. Eswatini is a nation of Kings. During the 15th and 16th centuries Africans of the Nguni descent migrated southwards from Central Africa where some of them settled in the area which is known today as Shiselweni in Southern Swaziland.
Today ancient traditions and culture work hand in hand with modern technology.
This tour can be added on to the Journey through the Kruger tour. The Journey through the Kruger tour takes place mainly in the Southern region of the Kruger so it’s ideal to then add the Discover Swaziland tour onto your itinerary. You can also book it as a stand-alone tour.

You are picked up from your Lodge in the Hazyview area or from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. We head for the Makahonja mountains. This Geo trail is a bucket list candidate. The geo trail near Barberton takes you on a journey into the mists of an impossibly distant past- more than 3 billion years ago.
We now cross into the Bulembu border gate into Eswatini. Just a short drive and we stop for lunch at the Bulembu Country Club situated at the foot of the Elembe Mountains the highest in Eswatini. After lunch we head to the spectacular Maguga dam route. On this route we will stop at a traditional Homestead and take a guided tour of the village. This is a definite highlight of your visit to Eswatini.
Late afternoon check-in at Hawane Lodge in the Malalotja game reserve.
Today we leave Hawane at around 08h30 and head to Mantenga Cultural village. Take a walk through the village before the show starts. It’s a living Museum of old traditions and represents a classic Swazi lifestyle during the 1850s.
After Lunch at the village, we head towards the King Shobuza Museum. The beloved King led Eswatini for many years and was responsible for preserving the Swazi culture. It is an experience you will never forget.
Now we head for Ngwenya Mine the oldest mine in the world. The ancient Bushmen mined this area for Ocre which was used in Traditional ceremonies and for cultural purposes. There is also a visitor’s centre with interesting information about these people. Artefacts and rock formations are also exhibited here. After this tour you now head back to your lodge nearby.
By now you will be relaxed and ready for your third day in the Kingdom of Eswatini. You will be stopping at the Malalotja Zip line on the way to the Jeppe’s Reef border post. It takes about 2hours to complete this activity and will be remembered for the natural beauty of this reserve. It is time for a leisurely drive back to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport or to your lodge in Malalane or Hazyview.
